VIRTU E3
BUILDING THE PRINTER
Building a Virtu is about taking that next step in the hobby—moving beyond simple mods and creating a machine that is built to be pushed hard.
If you’ve built an E3NG or spent time tinkering with an Ender 3, you know how rewarding it can be when things go well. With Virtu, the build is a bit more involved, but the payoff is a completely new, much more solid and capable machine that is your new base for speed and precision with limits far beyond what you were used to. We’ve moved away from printed frame joints entirely, opting instead for aluminum-to-aluminum blind joints. It means you’ll have to get hands-on with a drill and prep your extrusions, but the final result is well worth it. You aren’t just bolting things together, you’re engineering a rock-solid foundation for a very fast printer.
The real beauty of this design is that high performance isn’t an “add-on”—it is baked into the DNA of the printer. Even if you choose to go with a more budget-friendly build using stock motors and basic hardware, the core architecture is still optimized for speed. This means your “daily driver” can comfortably hit speeds that most printers only reach during a speed run. But while the foundation is built for performance from day one, it’s also a platform that’s ready to grow. Between official upgrades and the new mods developed by the community, there is always a path to push your Virtu even further whenever you’re ready for the next challenge.
Ready to start the build?
The following pages will guide you through the entire process step-by-step. We recommend following the roadmap in order: start with Sourcing Parts to figure out your BOM, move to Printing Parts and Files to prepare everything properly, and then dive into the Build guide to start the physical build. Take your time, enjoy the process.
